Dana White: testosterone replacement therapy is legal for any athlete

Application of steroids for testosterone replacement therapy by sportspersons is a controversial issue. There are many debates connected with it. It is known by everyone that steroids and some other related medicines are prohibited in numerous sports organizations. But if a person should take these preparations under indications of his/her doctor for medical purposes, he/she should acquire a therapeutic use exemption. Although it is permitted to administer even anabolic steroids for therapeutic needs, such sportspersons are often demonized and named “cheaters”. Actually, it is unfair.
What does Dana White, the UFC president, believe about application of steroids for testosterone replacement therapy? Does he demonize fighters that apply steroids in order to enhance their reduced levels of testosterone? The UFC president affirms that any person with hypogonadism should apply steroids, if these medications are recommended by his physician. However it is fair, let mention why several sportsmen suffer from reduced levels of testosterone. It is proven scientifically that steroid abuse may cause suppression of natural testosterone secretion. So, several fighters and other athletes that have used previously steroids for athletic purposes may have hypogonadism. Hence, their health care providers recommend them taking some steroids in order to enhance their testosterone levels.
According to Dana White, testosterone replacement therapy is legal for all men, including professional sportspersons. So, if any sportsperson experiences hypogonadism, he should be allowed to take steroids recommended by his health care provider. He should reach normal testosterone levels which characterize any healthy man of his age.
But Dana White makes it clear that any fighter or another athlete that administers anabolic steroids and/or other forbidden drugs for athletic needs must be sentenced to suspensions. It is necessary to make difference between those that apply steroids for clinical needs and those that desire to add muscle mass and strength with the help these medicines. Nobody is allowed to administer anabolic steroids for athletic purposes. It is forbidden in sports. Those that violate anti-doping rules must be sanctioned. Sports must be free from doping.
It seems to be strange that statements of the UFC president differ evidentially from statements presented by anti-doping officials. As you know, words of some anti-doping officials for steroid users are much harsher than those said by Dana White.
